I always come across people asking me how to clean a makeup sponge such that they look and feel brand new . You can find makeup sponge cleaners /cleansers in the market these days . I know that BeautyBlender have one and many companies have started such products . But to be honest Im not the one to spend money on such products . Im a Johnson’s Baby shampoo kind off girl .Also as I have acne I generally clean my sponges everyday and if I used a cleaner it would run our in a week or so . But make sure that if you are using a soap don’t use it directly on the product , and keep it exclusively for your makeup .
Im using a Realtechniques Miracle Complexion Sponge which has a week old makeup and foundation .I purposely waited so you can see that this method will clean dry layers of makeup .
All you need :
Leave the soap in the water for a few minutes and remove it , if your using Liquid soap then add two pumps . Add the baking soda and dunk you sponge in and leave it for 5 minutes .
Remove it , squeeze and rub if needed . The makeup generally slides away leaving the water dirty. Rinse under clean running water till the sponge water comes out clean . Leave it to dry in a ventilated cool place .
If I was ever to be asked which makeup brushes is the best in the market , price and quality wise the only Brand that came to my mind would be Real Techniques . When they came out with the miracle sponge I was pretty hesitant, because I hate sponges . The fact that you cant thoroughly clean them and also tend to soak up foundation and to me its a waste . I rather use my hands .
But let me just tell you , this idea and picture of a foundation sponge has changes allot . Hence I had to review the Real techniques Miracle sponge ASAP , and give my readers the low down. This sponge is easy to clean and even easier to use.
As you can see the Real techniques is a oval shaped sponge with a pointed tip similar to the beauty blender . But the factor that makes the Miracle complexion sponge ! ,and different form any other foundation sponge is that ; it has a flat side . The flat edge helps patting product and blending out foundation . Also this works well around the contours of the face especially around the eyes .
The sponge itself is very soft and orange !! I absolutely love the feel of it against my skin . It feels like memory foam . I ran the sponge under water and it increased in size and became more pliable .The photo can clearly show how much it grew .I have never used the beauty blender , but I read allot of reviews online that say the Realtechniques Miracle complexion sponge gives better results , cheaper and more accessible . Its available almost everywhere.
